GIRLPOWER FLAG FOOTBALL ATLANTA

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to make sure ALL our girls play and compete each week with a heavy emphasis on team building, sportsmanship, positivity, enthusiasm, and effort. What makes GIRLPOWER Flag so unique is that we are one big family that supports, encourages, and celebrates the successes of one another regardless of the outcome of the scoreboard. All girls will play in all games. We will warm up together, rally together, and finish with an awards ceremony each week. As a result, our girls will find an improved self-esteem, more confidence, and more skills from a safe and positive flag football environment, all while having FUN.

Coaches have the responsibility to uphold the GPF mission statement to its fullest. They will provide a safe and inviting atmosphere of positivity and fun to learn this great sport of football. Coaches will  held to the highest of standards, with no exceptions. Absolutely no cursing, arguing with officials, or yelling at players. It is our job to lead these girls by example and be role models for them. Culture is king and  coaches set that tone where the players become an extension of them. Always remember it's about our girls, not us. It's about creating a memorable experiences that last a life time and lessons that can be taken away with them.  A coach is the only person allowed to talk to a ref about a call, and it's done so respectfully.

Players are expected to put in the effort, be on time to practice, games, and treat their teammates and opponents with love and respect. Sportsmanship and enthusiasm is emphasized in GPF. There will be a zero tolerance for bullying. A warning will be issued by the coach and the second one will be a dismissal from games or playing time. If this continues, we will evaluate whether there will be a dismissal from the team for the rest of the season.

We will celebrate our players weekly based on performance and upholding our core values. Individual medals will be rewarded to every player once per season. The "Broccoli" award will represent our core values in addition to players who have overcome adversity on and off the field. These celebrations and values will teach our girls about commitment, grit, perseverance, mental toughness, and sportsmanship. All of these attributes will carry over well beyond the white lines of the football field.  There will be NO second place trophies. The NFL don't give out runner up awards so we will follow their lead.  We will celebrate the Superbowl Champions with a Lombardy Trophy and Super Bowl Championship Rings will be awarded to the players and coaches.

Parents are kindly asked for your full support and trust of the programs and its processes. We will be the class of youth sports and set the example for our girls: let the coaches coach, let the players play, and let the refs ref. It's ALL about our girls! There are two things that are off limits for parents to talk to coaches about: 1) Football Strategies and 2) Playing time. Coaches will do their best to put their team in the best position to succeed. Parents, if you are interested in coaching, there will be a questionnaire when registering your daughter(s) that will notify us to reach out to you and talk more about you being a coach!

Last but not least, youth football should be fun. The emphasis in our league is NOT only about winning. Learning the fundamentals of the game and how to work/play in harmony with each other is so important. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts and when one can experience that truth, that culture can be spread throughout the world. Let's play some flag football!
